John Faltys

John Hopewell Faltys

Born Dec. 8, 1930, in Fremont, Neb.; died Oct. 21, 2012, at home on Whidbey Island.

John spent his growing up years on a farm in Nebraska, graduated from Nebraska Law School, spent a couple of years in the Navy, during which time he was briefly based in and discovered the wonders of the Puget Sound area. Goodbye Nebraska. After John finished his term in the Navy, he returned to Seattle and taught law at the University of Washington until he went into private practice.

John was an accomplished woodworker, handball player and tale teller. He also loved traveling, tennis, hunting, crabbing, fishing and cruising in Puget Sound waters, as well as rolling dice with his buddies and trap shooting at the Rod & Gun Club.

John is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter and son-in-law Tasha and Joseph Linden; daughter Taya and son-in-law Marcello Vercelli; and son Paul and wife Dee Faltys; as well as three grandsons and six granddaughters.

He left us reluctantly; he is and will be greatly missed. A celebration of John’s life will be held in the spring.
