Phyllis Pratt

Phyllis E. Pratt left this life to be with her Lord on October 3rd, 2012. She was born Phyllis Ellen Germick on March 20th, 1941 to Joseph and Jennie Germick in Johnson City, NY. When her mom Jennie became pregnant the doctors told her she had cancer and recommended she abort to save her life. Jennie chose to have her child and she died when Phyllis was 11 months old. Phyllis was raised by her father.

Phyllis married her high school sweetheart Arthur Pratt on Sept. 26th, 1959. They were 18 yrs. old. Six sons and one daughter followed: Gene, Jeffrey, Stephen, Timothy, Reid, Lee and Nicole. Due to Phyllis’s love of travel and new places the Pratt’s lived in 6 different states. In 1976 Phyllis converted to Christianity. The Pratt family, with the four youngest still at home, moved to Whidbey Island in 1984. Phyllis considered her mission in life was to love and raise her children to walk uprightly before her Lord. She also shared her motherly love with 12 Whidbey Island youth who lived in her home, and many others who visited at various times. She fed and loved them all. She loved Whidbey and all her many friends. Phyllis lived a full life of love and service that will be her legacy for generations to come. She is survived by her husband and seven children as well as 12 grand chidlren and one great grand daughter. Though Phyllis will be sorely missed we take comfort and joy knowing she is in the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. Phyllis is home and free at last.

A celebration of her life memorial will be held at 2 PM on November 3rd at Christian Life Center, 1832 Scott Road, Freeland, WA. No flowers please, but if you like, donations can be made through the church to either YWAM (Axiom) or Orphan Relief and Rescue.
