Shirley Frederickson

Shirley Anita Frederickson, 81, died Aug. 24, 2010 in her home surrounded by her family following a brief battle with cancer.

She was born in Everett, March 29, 1929 to Marcella and Fritz Mattson.

Following her mother’s death, Shirley moved to Chicago, Ill. where she lived with her aunt and uncle. She returned to Everett after high school graduation, where she reconnected with Gerald (Jerry) Frederickson, whom she knew as a child. They were married Jan. 12, 1952. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Marcy, Lynn, Gordy and Phil.

Shirley enjoyed bowling with the ladies and hosting huge gatherings of friends and their families at their Whidbey Island cabin. She also volunteered at Providence Hospital in Everett for many years.

After Jerry retired, they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome with their grandchildren. They traveled to Arizona in the winters and spent summers on the Columbia River in Eastern Washington. After Jerry’s death, Shirley eventually returned to Freeland where she enjoyed her remaining years.

She is survived by her four children, Marcy Lauinger and husband Les of Anchorage, Alaska, Lynn Marvin and husband Mark of Tacoma, Gordy Frederickson and wife Diana Sandoval of Seattle, and Phil Frederickson and wife Liz of Bothell. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Jason, Matthew, Gerry, Kim, Connor and Alejandro.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2324 Lombard Ave., Everett. Friends and family may also view the online obituary, sign and leave messages at www.visserfuneral
