Thelma Hoiland

Thelma Josephine Helland Hoiland, born Oct. 30, 1924 in Clinton, passed way Nov. 11, 2011 in Snohomish at the age of 87.

She married Oran “Swede” Hoiland in 1945. Thelma was an Army wife for 21 years and lived in Germany, Okinawa, Minnesota, Texas and Missouri. They resided in Clinton until 1989, were snowbirds for several years and then lived in Arizona returning to the Northwest in 2005. Thelma was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking.

Thelma is survived by her daughters Shirley (Bill) Vanetta of Snohomish, and Chrisdy (Murray) Johnson of Mechanicsville, VA.; granddaughters Ashleigh and Bayley Johnson; and many many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Swede Hoiland and all of her 11 siblings.
