Virginia Vracin: May 14, 1945-March 26, 2018

The world became a little brighter when Virginia Marilyn Lodge (Ginny) was born May 14, 1945 to Mary and Archie Lodge in Wenatchee, Wash.

She was one of six children, all of whom were boys except the middle four. Together, Mary, Archie, Bob, Ron, Andrea, Nancy, Diane and Ginny were a family of Christian service, music and fun. Ginny spent her childhood learning the piano and went on to study music at Washington State University.

In 1968, she became a flight attendant for United Airlines, where she made the friendly skies friendlier for 40 years. Flying all over the world brought her much happiness, but her greatest joy in life was her family. She met and married her beloved husband, Dr. Wylie Vracin, in 1971 and put him through medical school in Guadalajara, Mexico. Forty seven years later, who was the captain and who was the first mate is still up for debate.

Oldest daughter Emily was born in Mexico, son Nicholas in California, son Damon in Tennessee and youngest daughter Danielle in Coupeville. Every parent wants to give their children the world – Ginny’s airline profession made this possible and together they traveled as a family far and wide on countless adventures.

Grandma Gigi was adored by her four darling grandkids: Sydney, Colby, Owen and Avery. Ginny was very active in the community, singing with her church choir and the Saratoga Sirens, enthusiastically selling CD’s for the Shifty Sailors, volunteering for numerous local events, supporting Ryan’s House for Youth and walking many miles with her treasured friends in her walking group.

Ginny was a bright light, a helping hand and a kind heart to all she met. She will be sorely missed.

There will be a church service for her at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 13 at the United Methodist Church followed by a celebration of life at the Coupeville Rec. Hall. In lieu of flowers please welcome all who cross your path, smile incessantly, frequent garage sales, reuse everything imaginable, volunteer your time and passions and pick up trash on walks in memory of our sweet Ginny.
