Falcon girls cruise in final home golf swings

South Whidbey girls golf did what it has all season: win.

South Whidbey girls golf did what it has all season: win.

Against Sultan on a windy Monday, the Falcons took five of the top six spots, missing out on only first place. Coupeville’s lone girl golfer, Christine Fields, was crowned the medalist by one stroke.

South Whidbey senior Chelsey Schultz led the Falcons with 35 points through 14 holes at Useless Bay Golf and Country Club. The Cascade Conference uses a modified Stableford scoring system for girls golf. Tied at third place were senior Jenna Kaik and sophomore Rosie Portillo with 31 points. Falcon senior Hannah Cotton and junior Grace Stringer tied for fifth with 28 points.

Sultan’s top golfer was Hanna Prentice with 24 points.

South Whidbey girls golf lost one match this season, a three-point drop to Archbishop Murphy on April 16. The Falcons have a chance to win the league crown if they beat King’s on May 1 (the regular season finale), which they did only six days ago.
