LMS names its hoop-season leaders

Both eighth-grade Langley Middle School basketball teams finished with winning records for the 2011 season.

Both eighth-grade Langley Middle School basketball teams finished with winning records for the 2011 season.

The junior varsity team finished first in the JV league at 5-1. The varsity team finished second in the conference with a record of 6-2.

Carlie Newman averaged 11 points per game and led the varsity Cougars in scoring. Rachael Arand added 10 ppg and was the varsity team’s second-leading scorer.

Hannah Grady led the JV team in scoring with 4 ppg.

Several players were recognized for their outstanding performance this season. Kristen Schuster was named the Best Defensive Player. Carlie Newman was nominated the Best Offensive Player. Mikayla Schumacher received the Most Inspirational Player award. Ashlie Gran was the Most Improved Player. Jennifer LeRoy received the special Coach’s Award. Rachael Arand and Anne Madsen shared Most Valuable Player honors.
