Falcons win over Sedro-Woolley

It was a clean sweep for the South Whidbey tennis team on Friday. The Falcons beat Sedro-Woolley 7-0, winning all of their matches.

South Whidbey’s Riley Newman won 6-0, 6-0; Van Morgen won 6-0, 6-0; Harrison Price won 6-1, 6-1 and Zach Comfort won 6-4 and 6-1.

In doubles action, Grant Neubauer and Jon Adams won 6-3, 6-0; Ben Snow and Jonah Jolley won 0-6, 6-0, 6-1 and Jake Ewing and Trevor Hein won 6-2, 6-4.

“Overall, it was a good day on the courts,” said Falcon coach Tom Kramer. “We match up well with the younger Sedro-Woolley players. And there were some improvements as Harrison and Zach played more consistently, which they will really need this week against better competition. Jake and Trevor also played more aggressively at times.”

At 2:45 p.m. today, the team welcomes Lynden to the high school courts.

Mixed tennis results at Mount Vernon

The South Whidbey boys tennis team traveled to Mount Vernon Monday and had some success, and some failure, against the Bulldogs.

For the Falcons, Riley Newman won 6-1, 6-0; Van Morgen won 6-0, 6-2; Harrison Price lost 7-6, 2-6, 6-7 and Zach Comfort lost 2-6 and 0-6.

In doubles action, Grant Neubauer and Jon Adams won 6-3, 6-2; Ben Snow and Jonah Jolley won 6-4, 6-3; Jake Ewing and Trevor Hein lost 4-6, 6-2 and 4-6.

“The good matches were obvious,” said Falcon coach Tom Kramer. “The bad matches unfortunately were also obvious. We have work to do.”
