On Oct. 5, 2018, Jon Erik Nelson peacefully passed away surrounded by his family at the age of 71.

Born Jan. 26, 1947 in West Seattle, he is survived by his wife Karen; his kids Kindra, Sage and Desa; grandkids Jacob, Kyah, Eli and Lexi; and sisters Sue and Sari.

Jon graduated from West Seattle High School and soon after enlisted in the Army.

He served our country in Vietnam in 1967-69. Upon return, he met his wife of 48 years, Karen, and moved to Whidbey Island in 1973. Together, they built their home where they have lived for 35 years.

Jon was an avid hunter, hiker, craftsman and a guiding light to all he touched in the community. He will be missed dearly.

A celebration of life will be held 1-4 p.m. Nov. 10, 2018 at their home.
