LETTER TO THE EDITOR | 20 percent vinegar works wonders

Editor, Living on Whidbey one hopefully will care about the environment, and I do. Like all gardeners, I struggle with killing and controlling weeds and using pesticides. As I am sure most have, I struggle with horsetail that seems like it is trying to take over the earth. No commercial weed killer has any effect and I pull it up and it is back the next day. There is an answer and a safe one.

Editor,

Living on Whidbey one hopefully will care about the environment, and I do.

Like all gardeners, I struggle with killing and controlling weeds and using pesticides. As I am sure most have, I struggle with horsetail that seems like it is trying to take over the earth. No commercial weed killer has any effect and I pull it up and it is back the next day. There is an answer and a safe one.

I read about this on the Internet and it works! It is 20 percent agricultural vinegar, and one spritz and it is dead in one hour — amazing. The stuff works on all weeds almost instantly and it is safe for the environment and pets. After hitting any new weeds or horsetail they just disappear with only light maintenance.

Sadly it is not locally available except in five-gallon containers, but I found it on Amazon.com with free Prime shipping in one-gallon bottles. Search “20 percent agricultural vinegar.”

I hope this helps frustrated gardeners and our Sound.
