To the editor:

I am curious to know if there is any correlation between TV channel surfers and Obama supporters.

I wonder about that because a friend recently commented that he is supporting Obama because he has not liked what he has seen in America during the past four years. Apparently, he will be voting for change simply for the sake of change in much the same way people surf channels on televisions; with the hope the next channel will be better without regard to the likelihood that it will probably be even worse.

Sen. McCain is as much of a Democrat as anyone, so I am not pleased with him as a candidate, but I will vote for him. I guess you could say I am wiling to travel the road I don’t particularly like in order to avoid taking the unknown road that I suspect leads into the wilderness. At least I know quite a lot about McCain.

What we do know about Sen. Obama is that he does not have any experience as the chief executive of anything, has very little working experience, would prefer to lose in the Middle East than to win, believes 9/11 was caused by poor Arabs who hate the USA, thinks socialism is the answer to economic problems and is convinced that a U.S. presence in Europe did not help win the Cold War. Our history is obviously not very important to him.

The contrast in the political philosophy and experience of the two candidates is certainly dramatic. So remember, when you hit a TV channel change button, you can press it again within just a few seconds. However, when you send that vote in this fall, you will be pushing a button that will unleash a program that you won’t be able to get out of until 2012. If television is what drives your decision, also remember, the “Obama Syndrome” will probably be even less watchable than the “McCain Mutiny.”
