LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Kids put on spectacular show

To the editor:

Oh, what a night, again!

South Whidbey was treated to two very special evenings this past week, when “singing sensation” Slaphappy preformed their third annual concert to benefit Whidbey Children’s Theater. What a sensation indeed!

The board of directors of WTC wish to extend a grateful and enormous thank you to Matt Bell (producer of the show) and his mates, Mark Arand, Gabe Harshman and Cameron Gray.

If you were fortunate enough to see one of the sold out performances you may still be buzzing with the memory of amazing music, humor and antics. If you are a long- or short-time community member you will also be filled with the pride we at WCT feel having seen these youth grow up on our stage (along with the high school and WICA stages) over the years.

Slaphappy was supported by an additional 20 or more young people to make the shows a huge success. Matt even enlisted two off-island a cappella groups, Uptown Four and U4ea, to fill out the evening. The shows were inspired, staffed and promoted by the “kids”; the rest of us only needed to come and enjoy the show!

Our young people are grateful for the opportunities they have in our community and are committed to giving back. We are so pleased that by doing so, these young people help to ensure that those opportunities continue in the future. A big round of applause for Slaphappy!
