LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Kudos for walkabout helpers

To the editor:

The fifth annual Wine Tasting Walkabout to benefit FETCH! was a sweet success.

More than 100 people, most accompanied by a dog or two, strolled between wine-tasting tables punctuated by food and music. Hay bales made a delightful resting spot to meet new friends and reconnect with old.

Wines included Januik, Novelty Hill, Rosenblum Cellars, Bohemian Hiway and Penfold’s. We want to thank them for their generous donations. Randall PR in Seattle gave us an amazing intern, Lydia, who blanketed Seattle and beyond with press releases and announcements. A bevy of volunteers helped pull it all together for a day to remember. From handmade dog biscuits to expert wine servers, they kept it rolling with smiles to spare. Barbara Phillips and her signature graphics for posters, flyers and tickets kept it all looking swell. Thank you one and all. Lenna and David Rose, Lisa Yarrow and Angus and Andrea Slichter all deserve special mention.

FETCH! began in 1998 with 800 signatures and a will to have off-leash areas here on the island. Now, more than a decade later, we enjoy five great parks. Go to www.fetchparks.org for more information.

If you use and enjoy the parks, please consider joining FETCH! to help keep the parks running smoothly. We are a 501C3 nonprofit made up of people who donate a little time and a little money. The more the hairier.
