Mayor Fred McCarthy reported a request from Callahan McVay, the owner artist, for more power so he can expand production. Other people are interested in using the back of the studio for various industrial arts such as metalwork or woodwork, McCarthy said.

“I see adding this power as a real important thing to do,” he said.

Turning the city-owned building into a light industrial zone is one of McCarthy’s two-year goals. He is fulfilling the term of former mayor Larry Kwarsick, who resigned earlier this year after taking office in 2012.
