South Whidbey prevailed in an island battle for baseball bragging rights at Coupeville Wednesday afternoon.
A Clinton diesel fuel retailer will not be required to hire a cleanup crew anytime soon after being identified this month by the state as owning a small-scale hazardous waste site.

A spokesperson from the state Department of Transportation said last week that a new bridge or new ferry service from the north end will not and cannot solve the problem of traffic congestion on Whidbey.

“After last week, the state should not need any more evidence to prove that the Highway 525 intersections at Thompson and Bayview roads need turn lanes and possibly stop lights. For the second time in two weeks, a local driver was rear-ended at high speed while waiting to make a turn from the highway on Thompson Road.Neither driver was seriously injured in the crash, nor was a passenger. On Tuesday, a more serious accident jeopardized the lives a 78-year-old woman and a 2-year-old toddler.”
