Paul Schell visited the Poppybank Gallery in Langley only once before his July 2014 death.

The moment stuck with the gallery’s owners, Christopher and Leslie Evans, who are donating all proceeds of one of the fine-art photographs to the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts.

The picture, “Langley Marina Rays,” has already sold well, according to a news release from the gallery.

“Paul expressed his admiration for the piece, and wished us the best of luck,” Evans said in the release. “… We decided we would dedicate the picture in his honor and donate the proceeds to something local. Paul and Pam Schell’s commitment to WICA and our own deep appreciation for the arts made the choice pretty straightforward.”

Located on First Street in Langley, the gallery operates 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Monday and takes part in the First Saturday Art Walks from 5 to 7 p.m. the first Saturday of every month.
