Emma Lungren, a 2015 graduate of South Whidbey High School, achieved academic distinction in her first year at Whitman College in Walla Walla. Academic distinction is awarded after the completion of each semester.

It is given to all students who have completed a minimum of 12 credits, passed all credits attempted and have earned a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
