Gary Lee Gallaway: November 13, 1945 – May 7, 2022

Gary Lee Gallaway, age 76, of Yakima, longtime former Oak Harbor resident, went home to be with the Lord on Ssaturday, May 7, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born on November 13, 1945, in Junction City, Kansas, to Vern and Elsie (Rogers) Gallaway. He was raised in Dwight, Kansas, where he attended school and graduated from Dwight High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy. While stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, he met Jeanne Bailey, and they were married on February 25, 1967, in Sunnyside, Washington. The couple resided in Oak Harbor until Gary attended the Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, MO. After graduation from chiropractic college, the family returned to Oak Harbor, where Gary opened Gallaway Chiropractic Clinic. He retired from practice in 2008. Before heading to college, the couple was blessed with two sons: Chad Michael and Marc Steven.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jeanne; his two sons, Chad (Lorie) of Everett and Marc (Marci) of Yakima; five grandchildren: Tyler Gallaway, Azaria (Colby) Johansen, Sofia, Madison and Megan Gallaway; two great-grandchildren Morrison Gallaway and Tripp West; two sisters, Karen Harris and Betty (Gerald) Hughey; also, several nieces and nephews. In addition, he is survived by his brother and sister of the heart, Duf and Edie Silvey and nieces and nephew of the heart, Marla Hoskins and Mark and Amber Silvey; also, by a lifelong childhood friend, Kent (Lana) Oleen. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Samuel and Payton Gallaway; by one brother, Roger Gallaway; also by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Blaine and Virginia Bailey.

A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 3:00 PM at Cross Church, 8700 Summitview Ave., Yakima, Pastor Dan Hagar officiated. A private family graveside ceremony will take place at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Life Choices Pregnancy Medical Center, 305 S. 11th Ave., Yakima, WA 98902.
