Vendors at the Bayview Farmer’s Market had a better season than they expected in 2013 and found a way to give back. The group donated $500 of market bucks to Damon Arndt, organizer for the Hearts and Hammers work party.

“This is a way to give back to the community and benefit the 2014 market all in one shot,” said Bayview Farmers Market president Shirlee Read in a news release. “Each homeowner gets an envelope containing Market Bucks to spend at the Bayview Market for vegetables, fruits and other food-related items.”

The farmers market opens at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26. The Hearts and Hammers work party will be on Saturday, May 3. For details about joining the work day call 360-221-6063.
