Kurt Hoelting and Lisa Hardmeyer will lead a presentation on “Meditation and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at Tahoma Zen Monastery, 6499 Wahl Road, Freeland. The pair will discuss their work introducing meditation to veterans at Seattle’s VA hospitals. Utilizing the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Hoelting and Hardmeyer open the world of meditation to this diverse population.
The South Whidbey Garden Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Clinton. The program is the “Terry and Rhonda Show.” The club will learn how to use recycled metals when creating floral arrangements, and the pair are well-known for their beautiful, unusual and whimsical works of floral art from entries at the Island County Fair.

A spaghetti fundraiser will be held Saturday to raise money for this year’s Mobile Turkey Unit. The Mobile Turkey Unit is a group of volunteers who for the past 14 years have purchased, prepared and delivered Thanksgiving Dinners to hundreds of those in need.
